Components manufactured at WHITE INDUSTRIES can provide cost savings compared with a welded or fabricated part. Many of our clients have replaced welded steel parts with a quality casting from WHITE INDUSTRIES.

The following case studies depict the successful conversion from a welded steel part to a cast component.

Case 1 - Before & After
Cross Member for a Dingo Mini Digger

The support member on the Mini Digger was previously fabricated from RHS.

On conversion to a casting, the customer was able increase the wall thickness, create an oblong shape with lugs for the hydraulic ram integrally cast, all improving strength with the additional cosmetic advantage and prominent lettering showcasing their name.

This is one example of thinking outside the square when you think castings.

Case 2 - Before & After
Steering Bell Crank for a Cane Harvester

This component was fabricated for many years, prior to conversion to casting. Now cast in medium manganese steel, approx 25% stronger than mild steel. This, together with the consistency of a repetitive net cast shape has proven most desirable for the customer. Another major issue, and one often overlooked during the costing process, is consistency on arrival at CNC Machining Centre. Overall this project achieved considerable savings for the customer.

Again, many fabrications lend themselves to become castings, for cost efficiencies, cosmetic/ascetic reasons and improved production process flows.
